Ceramic Vase Care: Water, Cleaning and Surface Variation

Ceramic Vase Care: Water, Cleaning and Surface Variation

Ceramic is durable, but the best care depends on the surface and finish of the individual piece. MEORIN’s launch vessels are water-safe, so they can be used with fresh flowers and branches. Gentle hand cleaning and careful handling are the simplest ways to preserve their surfaces over time.

Can MEORIN ceramic vases hold water?

Yes. The current MEORIN launch vessels are specified as water-safe and can be used with fresh botanicals. As with any filled vessel, place the vase on a stable, level surface and wipe away water that spills onto furniture.

How to clean a ceramic vase

1.  Empty the vessel and rinse with clean water.

2.  Use a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge with mild soap if needed.

3.  Avoid metal scrubbers, abrasive powders and aggressive tools that can scratch or alter the finish.

4.  Rinse away soap residue thoroughly.

5.  Dry the exterior with a soft cloth and allow the interior to dry before long-term storage.

Cleaning narrow openings

For vessels with narrow openings, start with warm water and a small amount of mild soap. Swirl gently rather than forcing a rigid brush into the interior. If a flexible bottle brush is used, make sure it does not scrape the rim or finished surface.

What about mineral marks from water?

Hard water can leave mineral residue on many surfaces. Empty standing water when flowers are no longer in use and rinse the vessel rather than allowing residue to build up. Before using any acidic or specialty cleaner, test cautiously and consider the specific finish of the piece.

Surface variation is not always a defect

Ceramic finishes can show differences in texture, tone, glaze pooling, brush marks or intentionally distressed areas. Those characteristics should be judged against the product imagery and description rather than against the expectation of machine-perfect uniformity.

At the same time, visible cracks, shipping breakage or damage that affects the integrity of the vessel should be treated differently from normal surface variation. If an item arrives damaged, follow MEORIN’s Damaged Items process and contact support@meorin.com as soon as possible.

Handle statement pieces with two hands

Larger vessels should be lifted from the body or base with two hands rather than by a rim, decorative handle or narrow neck. Make sure the display surface is stable and deep enough for the footprint of the piece.

Do not assume food, dishwasher or microwave safety

Water-safe does not automatically mean food-safe, dishwasher-safe or microwave-safe. Unless a specific product page states otherwise, use MEORIN vessels as decorative objects and flower vessels, and clean them gently by hand.

Storage

Store ceramic pieces where they cannot knock against one another. If a vessel is boxed, use soft protective material around projecting handles, rims or feet, and avoid placing heavy objects on top of the box.
